At the beginning of 2019, I had an idea to build an online service that ranked tech into a top 10 chart. This site would be updated monthly and would show users what the best tech is for each month. I got my idea from the likes of Billboard but instead of ranking music, rank tech products and gadgets instead. With the amount of tech products and gadgets been released monthly I thought it would be good to show people what the best item was for each month.

This site would obviously need to generate revenue to be viable to update, so we devised a business model to turn this idea into a potentially profitable business. The business model was to run off affiliate links and to gain a percentage of each item sold through the site. As well as this there was also a promotions page where we could rank the best deals of the month. The aim was to get tech and gadget vendors to pay to have their offers displayed on this carefully crafted page.

The site was built on top of wordpress and featured many custom systems to make updating the site as easy as possible. I spent quite a while on ensuring that the site was responsive on any device it was accessed on. To do this I used CSS and custom HTML elements to help display content in a creative and responsive way. To design this site, I used a mix of Photoshop and Adobe XD to create complex wireframes for each page before I started on the development.

From start to finish this project probably took around a month to complete and I managed to get funding for this venture from Thulya, now my current employer. Many forms of design work went into this project such as logo and brand creation, UI design, Colour scheme creation and more. I plan to work on TechRank again in the near future. Due to privacy, some details have been missed out.
